A New Adventure

I know that I am terrible about keeping up with this whole blogging thing! Seriously, it has been months!!!  But that is not why I am here.  I am here because a lot has happened in the past couple of days and I am on a new adventure, or should I say WE are on a new adventure.  On July 2, 2012 I got to marry the most beautiful girl in the world and my best friend!  I know that I am biased, but I had a really good time at that wedding! :-)  But, that was three days ago and I am sadly already forgetting some of the details.  Why I really revisited my blog is because Jenn and I are currently on our mini-moon.  We are taking a short getaway before I go back to work and then we will be doing a full length honeymoon to Orlando, hopefully in August.  I had originally intended to write all of this on Facebook, but I know that it would be too long of a status each day and, heck, I've got a blog...I should use it!

So building up to leaving the house I had Jenn convinced that I would be taking her to Sun Valley, ID.  She was a little ticked that I had told her where we were going, but she was really making the best of it.  What she didn't know is that I had actually made a reservation at the Inn at Otter Crest on the Oregon Coast.  It is a little pocket of condos that are set up on rocks over looking a beach and the ocean, it is beautiful.  Anyway, yesterday was our travel day.  As we got into the car, I informed Jenn that I wanted to drive first and that she would be my navigator.  I handed her that papers with the map and directions to the Inn and her demeanor immediately changed.  Apparently she has always wanted to visit the Oregon Coast!  So through the 10 hour drive that it took to get here we did a lot of reminiscing about the wedding and the weekend leading up to it.  Because it was Independence Day, we sang a few patriotic songs, including The Star Spangled Banner. In general, we just had a great time.  We got to drive right by downtown Portland, which we have visited before, and the river bank was PACKED with people.  We made the assumption it was for a fireworks show that night.  We got lost twice going through Portland, but we both know that it is all part of the adventure.  We got to travel the on the Oregon Coast Highway and check out Lincoln City, Depoe Bay, and Newport!  I don't know what lies in store for the next couple of days, but I will try to get snippits here and there up on my blog so everyone can share in our adventure.  Check back for more or better yet, subscribe! :-)

TELEVISION LIES!!!

Don't worry this isn't like a conspiracy rant or anything.  I'm talking about when organizations lie about TV deals.  I am an avid rugby fan and have been counting down to Rugby World Cup 2011 since South Africa won the final in Rugby World Cup 2007.  Imagine my delight when an article came out saying that Universal Sports (part if NBC) was awarded a huge deal to show all of the RWC 2011 games! I was ecstatic!  Now, on day two of the event I find a game in progress that can only be watched for a minimal fee...OF $25!!!!  I expect to be able to watch all of the games, given that I have the channel, when it is the largest US TV deal in the history of rugby.  And don't try to tell me that I was being over-optimistic and set myself up for failure!  In 2007 Setanta Sports, and Irish channel available in the US through Cable and Satellite providers showed every game!  So it isn't asinine of me to ask that NBC do the same.  Or at least a majority.  In the US we have access to only 10 of the 48 games without paying extra! That's ridiculous!  Anywho, I've ranted my rant.  Go All-Blacks, although I might have you wait 4 years so I can actually watch you win.

My Bad

I told you I wasn't going to do very well about keeping up on this.  I will try to do better, although nobody reads this anyway.  A lot has happened recently, and by recently I mean since last time I posted anything.  I have officially (it's true, check my transcript).  Moved to Boise and got a job, though I haven't started it yet.  I found out about the job last week, but don't start my orientation until Friday.  That just means I have been sitting here twiddling my thumbs.  On a more exciting note, things with the wedding are coming together.  Jenn and I picked the venue and Jenn signed the contract and put the deposit down so the Century Hall and Gardens is officially ours for July 2, 2012.  Jenn has all the bridesmaids' stuff figured out, and as of yesterday I think we know what we wanna do for the groomsmen and myself.  On top of that Amanda put the finishing touches on the save-the-dates (STDs as Jenn likes to call them), and Jenn has ordered them so they should be here by Thursday.  Oh yeah, and Jenn and I went to the hotel to block off some rooms.  I'm pretty happy to be getting all this stuff done early so we have less to fret about later, although I have kinda been making Jenn do all the work.  Well I'm down here now so I don't really have an excuse not to be more involved.  Anyway, I promise to try to be better about updating the blog and maybe I will actually start posting it places so people start reading it.  Eh, who am  I kidding?  This is Beau signing out from The Overlook (if you know where I live you will get it :-) ).

Let's Give This a Shot

I've never had a blog before, nor do I read many.  I figured I'd give it a shot.  So for the first one I guess I can talk about yesterday, or at least Jennifer's yesterday.  Jenn got herself a dress and, as far as I know, all the bridesmaid's dresses and shoes.  This whole wedding thing is moving forward quickly and I'm excited.  Problem is, now I'm going to be antsy about seeing the dress and I have to wait for over a year. BOO!!  I love that everything is coming together and I can't wait to finish school and catch up with Jenn!
